Holiday Hosting Essentials: Make a List and Check it Twice

With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s important to prepare accordingly. Here’s a checklist to help get your home holiday-ready:

  • Block your calendar: Know what days you’re available to host and block out your calendar early.
  • Price accordingly: Make sure your pricing is in line with others in your market, and take advantage of smart pricing tools.
  • Update your property description/photos: Adding some holiday flair to your property description, and photos can make it more inviting. Consider what makes your property unique, along with any local holiday events going on.
  • Support local businesses: Including holiday treats from local businesses is a perfect touch to make your space more welcoming for guests. You can also provide information on local shops and restaurants that are great to visit during the holiday season.
  • Know your guests: Have a guest-screening process in place, and make sure you know who you are hosting. This helps prevent parties and disruptive guests.

Plan ahead: Noise, trash, and parking are some of the top nuisance complaints about vacation rentals. The holidays can mean more of all three, so plan ahead by making sure you have a plan to pick up additional waste, share your parking rules with guests well in advance, and consider using noise-monitoring devices to help avoid disturbing your neighbors.
