AZRT is committed to working with state and local leaders to develop fair, balanced, and effective policies for short-term rentals (STRs). While we welcome open discussions on regulation, the upcoming Mayor’s Forum on STRs, hosted by Senator Mark Finchem, is not a neutral platform for meaningful dialogue. Instead, it is being led by individuals with extreme, one-sided viewpoints that do not reflect the majority of lawmakers, community leaders, or Arizona residents who seek pragmatic, solutions-driven policies.
📅 Date: Thursday, Feb. 20
🕑 Time: 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
📍 Location: Davis Learning Center, Embry-Riddle University, Prescott
While this event includes a moderated Q&A, the structure and leadership suggest that STR owners may have limited opportunity to engage in real, productive conversation. Additionally, there is a $20 fee to attend, a highly unusual requirement for a public policy discussion.
AZRT’s Focus: Real Solutions, Not Political Theater
Rather than divert energy to an event where STR owners may be given little voice, AZRT is continuing our work directly with state legislators, city officials, and community leaders who are genuinely invested in responsible, fair regulation. Our efforts have already led to productive conversations and real progress, and we remain committed to practical, common-sense solutions that balance the needs of property owners, guests, and local communities.
For those who wish to attend the forum, we encourage you to be aware of the event’s structure and leadership. However, AZRT will continue focusing our advocacy on forums where real, balanced policymaking can take place.
We encourage all leaders to engage in fair and solution-oriented discussionsrather than inflammatory rhetoric designed to divide. AZRT is proud of the partnerships we’ve built and the meaningful work we are doing to ensure Arizona’s STR market remains strong, fair, and well-regulated.
For those looking to make an impact, the most effective path forward is engaging directly with legislators and decision-makers who are open to practical, long-term solutions.
