Being a good neighbor is key to being a responsible host. At AZRT, we celebrate our good neighbors and our responsible hosts for all they do to support and celebrate our communities. Each month, we feature a Good Neighbor of the Month and highlight how they ensure they are a good neighbor. If you are interested in being featured or know someone else who should be, send us an email at azrtr@rentresponsibly.org.
Meet this month’s featured good neighbor and AZRT board member, Kelsey Wood.
My name is Kelsey. My fiancé Josh and I currently own four vacation rental properties in the Phoenix area. Josh and I are both in the medical field and really love working with people. We also really love our neighbors and have a wonderful relationship with them as we used to live in two of the houses that we now use as short-term rentals. For this reason, it is exceptionally important to us that we ensure not only a great guest experience, but also a great experience for our neighbors.
Some of the things we do to be good neighbors are:
- Using a trash/recycle can service, Can Monkey
- Using a noise monitoring system inside and outside, NoiseAware, to alert us if there is excessive noise so we can reach out to our guests
- We also have Ring cameras in the front and backyard to assure there are no parties, and we only allow one car to be parked in the street (others must be in the driveway)
- All of our neighbors have our cell phone numbers and we check in with them regularly to make sure that everything is going well and always ask if they have any concerns
We also like to share with our guests in our welcome book that we are grateful to have wonderful neighbors and ask that they be respectful to them as well. Part of being a great host is also being a great neighbor!
