With the passing of Senate Bill 1168, local jurisdictions now have the authority to require short-term rental owners to notify all single-family residential properties adjacent to, directly, and diagonally across the street from the property of their intent to short-term rent along with local government proof of compliance.
For a notification letter to be in compliance, it must include:
- The permit or license number (if required by local government)
- The property address
- Emergency contact information
In addition to notifying neighbors, owners must also provide their local municipality with an attestation of notification compliance with the following information:
- The permit or license number (if required by local government)
- The address of each property notified
- A description of how each property was notified
- The name and contact information of the person attesting compliance of notification (your contact information)
